Extrusion Product Development
The versatility of the thermoplastic materials used means that our extrusions are used in a wide range of markets. Some customers have approached Amco Plastics Limited with an idea for a custom extrusion which started life as a rough drawing on a scrap of paper. We pride ourselves in being able to offer a service which can take this idea and turn it into a finished product in its own right, or one that joins or fits into another product to complete the package.
With our extensive knowledge of plastic extrusions we can offer support and advice on the initial extrusion design and on the best materials for the application where rigidity, flexibility, heat resistance or a combination of colours or materials are required. Following discussions these ideas will be transferred onto our computer which will produce a dimensionally accurate tolerance drawing which is a reflection of the customers needs. Any modifications are implemented quickly and once both parties are happy with the design the drawings are signed off and sent to our tooling department.
Depending on the project, tooling is either produced in-house allowing for a fast turn around or we have a number of outside experts that we can call upon to turn the biggest project into something we can easily handle, again within a specified time frame. Our skilled tool makers will then work closely with production to ensure that the extrusion produced meets the customers’ expectations. Samples will then be sent for approval prior to the production run. All this is undertaken with the minimum of delay to keep our customers as happy as possible.
Some customers have their own facility to produce dimensional toleranced drawings and can also provide material specifications which we are more than happy to use. This undoubtedly shortens the extrusion process time from development to a full production run.
To facilitate fast deliveries a large stock of raw material is constantly held in our onsite warehouse. We also work closely with our material suppliers to be able to offer our customers a comprehensive range of materials in a vast array of colours and insist on the shortest lead times possible.
Due to the start up times associated with extrusion processes we operate a minimum order quantity but with this in mind we are more than happy to run multiple orders at the same time and hold stocks of finished product for call off.
